About the Author
Marc J. Schniederjans is the C. Wheaton Battey Distinguished Professor of Business in the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has served on the faculty of three other universities. Professor Schniederjans is a Fellow of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) and in 2014-2015 will serve as DSI’s president. His prior experience includes owning and operating his own truck leasing business. He is currently a member of the Institute of Supply Management (ISM), the Production and Operations Management Society (POMS), and Decision Sciences Institute (DSI). Professor Schniederjans has taught extensively in operations management and management science. He has won numerous teaching awards and is an honorary member of the Golden Key honor society and the Alpha Kappa Psi business honor society. He has published more than a hundred journal articles and has authored or coauthored twenty books in the field of management. The title of his most recent book is Reinventing the Supply Chain Life Cycle, and his research has encompassed a wide range of operations management and decision science topics. He has also presented more than one hundred research papers at academic meetings. Professor Schniederjans is serving on five journal editorial review boards, including Computers & Operations Research, International Journal of Information & Decision Sciences, International Journal of Information Systems in the Service Sector, Journal of Operations Management, and Production and Operations Management. He is also serving as an area editor for the journal Operations Management Research and as an associate editor for the International Journal of Strategic Decision Sciences and International Journal of the Society Systems Science and Management Review : An International Journal (Korea). In addition, Professor Schniederjans has served as a consultant and trainer to various business and government agencies.

Dara G. Schniederjans is an assistant professor of Supply Chain Management at the University of Rhode Island, College of Business Administration. She has published articles in journals such as Decision Support Systems, Journal of the Operational Research Society, and Business Process Management Journal. She has also coauthored two text books and coedited a readings book. She has contributed chapters to readings utilizing quantitative and statistical methods. Dara has served as a guest coeditor for a special issue on Business Ethics in Social Sciences in the International Journal of Society Systems Science. She has also served as a website coordinator for Decisions Sciences Institute. She currently teaches courses in Supplier Relationship Management and Operations Management.

Christopher M. Starkey is an economics student at the University of Connecticut-Storrs. He has presented papers at the Academy of Management and Production and Operations Management Society meetings. He currently teaches courses in Principles of Microeconomics and has taught Principles of Macroeconomics. His current research interests include macroeconomic and monetary policy, as well as other decision-making methodologies.

This book spends half of itself explaining kinda obvious stuff like what is BA, why is important, what programs are used in BA (excel, sas,spss), how to group teams, align other resources, etc. In my opinion I could have saved this $100 and look these introductory lessons on the internet

Very Timely and Informative. Highly Recommended!

Terry James has given us another very informative and thought provoking book from a Christian and Biblical perspective that is as current as the headline in our morning newspaper. While our anchor and hope in this life must always lie in our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, in order to be good stewards of the "talents" that we have been entrusted with, we need to have some understanding of the Satanic world system we find ourselves living in. One of the most complicated and difficult to understand elements of this system is economics and the role of money. Using the knowledge and economic expertise of a number of Christian authors, Terry has sought to "pull back the curtain" in order to expose the greed driven manipulation employed by financial cabals, bankers, and wall street barons who pluck the financial and economic strings of the world monetary system exclusively to their tune. To call them robber barons would be putting it mildly. The essays contained in the book provide both a Biblical perspective on the ownership and use of money and a necessarily simplified description of the history and inner workings of various elements of the present US and world financial and economic system for those of us who are relative novices on the subject. These articles also bring into focus the Satanically driven financial and economic manipulation of the world economic systems for the benefit of the super rich in light of Bible prophecy on the subject. Clearly, a one-world monetary and financial system is the goal toward which we are being herded by the masters of demonomics, which is surely a sign that the Lord's return is drawing near. Read the book and you will see what I mean.

This book was very interesting. It covers conspiracies and history, including banks and bailouts and funding for wars. It looks at history over the past few hundred years and how the wealthy have controlled the banking industry at the expense of the less fortunate. Fascinating discussion on the wealth made from war.

Murder, Corruption, and Conspiracy in a Mystery Thriller

In north London, a young woman has been raped and murdered, and the woman's fiancé, who was found next to the body and deemed by the evidence to be the murderer, has escaped from custody. These events bring Superintendent Hopwood to DCI Zachary Taylor's office at his exiled sabbatical demanding that he return to take on the investigation of tracking the accused fiancé down. However, soon after Taylor delves into the investigation, he quickly discovers a connection with another incident from seven years earlier when three police detectives were killed in a bar including Taylor's boss and the well-connected entrepreneur Taylor felt was responsible had avoided justice. As the two cases begin to combine, Taylor suddenly finds himself in the crosshairs of a deadly conspiracy of corruption and cover-up, where he cannot tell who he can trust with the truths he is uncovering or his life. This complex and tense-filled thriller requires strength from the reader following the risky actions of a detective in a very dangerous mystery. Some plot twists were a bit of a stretch and a bit heavy-handed at times, but readers who enjoy a "lone hero against the system" type of story will be satisfied.

I review a great many books and am asked to review a great many more. So when Larry Quartley asked me to review his debut crime novel, I was happy to slot it into my list. Quartley is a British author who was born in the county of Hertfordshire, England just North of London. His has not been a traditional route to becoming a novelist. He previously worked for a blue-chip Pharmaceutical company always wanted to write crime fiction. However, when his company moved the author was offered early retirement and did so. Quartley began to read widely, and to write daily.

The result is Closure, the first in the Detective Zachary Taylor series. The opening chapter of Closure creates tension and sets up the rest of the story. Closure is full of action with the right amount of pace, excitement and intrigue, which will keep most crime fiction lovers happy. The lead character, DCI Zachary Taylor, is different because the reader sees and feels his fear and emotions and, despite his past failings, he is not overly loaded with baggage. He moves through the investigation, getting closer to his target with each unfolding chapter.

In Closure, Taylor is shown as a detective who cannot let go of the past nor the part he played in the death of his old DCI. While he is investigating the brutal rape and murder of a young woman, whose death pulls the past into the present. In 2003 Detective Chief Inspector Charlie Benner was gunned down when he was caught up in a shooting frenzy between rival drug gangs. Zachary Taylor was among the first to arrive at the bloodbath. Although Taylor worked the case he was unable to secure a conviction so his chief suspect, James Black and any other guilty parties remained free and the case remained unsolved.

Seven years later, Taylor is investigating the rape and murder of Stella Kerr. Stella's boyfriend, Steve Lamb, is charged with the murder but he has gone on the run. Taylor quickly learns that there is a connection to the past and James Black. Taylor believes the same dark forces responsible for the slaying of his Benner in 2003 are behind the drug fueled murder of Stella Kerr. Closure proceeds to become a compelling novel.

The characters, for me, are a strong point of Closure. Taylor is an excellent protagonist and Black is very well drawn as a thoroughly arrogant man. Another great character is Allan Devere, the drug lord. The author also carefully gives each character their own voice and accents. I liked this a lot.

However,there are a number of frustrations with the text. Closure would benefit from a thorough dose of editing. To tighten up the story and eliminate spelling and punctuation errors. However, Closure is a compelling debut novel with a lot of promise. I recommend this book and look forward to Larry Quartley's next book in the Zachary Taylor series.

Overall a very good read and an excellent debut novel introducing us to DCI Zachary Taylor. Taylor is a maverick cop (to say the least) who gets suspended from duty whilst investigating the brutal rape and murder of a young woman and the attempt to find her husband believed to be her killer. Short chapters (I like) help the book feel fast paced. The tension certainly increases towards the end of the novel and the real twists and turns happen here. Never guessed the end (I'm very pleased to say). A few repeated phrases like "shook her curls" and others have commented on this-didn't bother me that much. I liked Zachary and his taste in music. I disliked his girl friend Tasha but she is (hopefully) gone. Really liked the character Anna- please keep her and her friend. I feel that Zachary certainly has legs and that he will continue to develop further in future books. Thankfully, not burdened with "inner angst" as has become popular. This is a (fingers crossed) series that will definitely improve with each new novel and I eagerly await the next one

It tells the interconnected stories of how a relatively small group of people, many of them artists, signwriters, and entrepreneurs working in the dawn of the advertising age in the USA, helped create entire industries that continue to exist globally today, all using screen printing in the production of an unbelievably wide range of products. It includes beautiful full color illustrations from the Selectasine Booklet provided to original patent licensees, and the main vehicle that spread the process around the world. Hundreds of never before seen product photos, machine designs, and some of the first art prints done in the 1920 s in California are included, plus special chapters on fine art printmaking, along with the ceramic and textile industries. Screen printing was a hybrid process that provided both graphic and manufacturing advantages over other methods, and was perfect for the times. Industry, especially in the USA, was transitioning from hand craft into mass production, creating a need to decorate products, or advertise them with signage. Most times a closely guarded industrial secret, screen printing bridged gaps between hand production and the more expensive automated printing of the time, which included lithography and letterpress. It introduced cheap short run color capabilities, and virtually created the whole Point of Purchase (POP) and Specialty Advertising industries, along with the billboard and t-shirt printing sectors. An ability to print directly on a wide variety of materials led to use decorating metal, ceramics, textiles, and plastics, spurring record growth, better designs, and lowered costs in any industry that adopted it, from fashion to fine china. Experiments prior to WWII led to printed circuits, which in turn revolutionized the electronics industries. All these and more are legacies of the pioneers of screen printing featured in the book. The history of the process is really the history of so many things we take for granted in today s and tomorrow s society.

About the Author
Guido Lengwiler is a teacher of screen printing at the Schule fuer Gestaltung Bern und Biel, Switzerland (Bern and Biel School of Design). Born 1960. He was elected to the Academy of Screen and Digital Printing Technology (ASDPT) in 2009 for his work on the History of Screen Printing.

This is a wonderful but extremely historical book on the early days of screen printing, I have had 50 years involvement full time in screen printing having started my own business at age 18 and am still at it more or less full time after 50 years. Whilst my sons now look after the day to day running of the business and we do some digital work, I would be lost without daily immersion in the old trade. My real concern is that this book covers the very early days of the trade. While very interesting we need a follow up volume to comprehensively cover the industry. This book ends about where I started in screen printing trade, this industry has had massive and exponential growth in the 1960' 70's 80's, across a very wide range of applications . Definately we need a second volume to complement and complete the story. This is still an excellent book buy it and wait for the second volume. that is my hope !

Most complete history of screen printing out there

For years, I've read a lot of rumors and speculation about early screen printing, but nothing that was a well documented history. This history steps screen printing through WWI up to modern day. I purchased this for the details about WWII screen printing, which clarified and refuted a lot of "popular" opinions on how things were produced in the period, including the use of stenciling verses screen printing.
